Contractor tax preparation

A clearer tax process for contractors.

JC Tax Services supports contractors who earn income through projects, customer payments, and 1099 work. The goal is to turn scattered records into a clear picture before preparation begins.

Start with the records you have

A better picture of the work behind the return.

  • Invoices, payment records, and 1099 forms
  • Work-related supplies and equipment records
  • Prior-year return and current business information

Preparation for your kind of work

Practical details worth bringing forward.

Keep the work records together

Bring forward customer payments, invoices, 1099 forms, materials and supply records, equipment purchases, and business-account information. Keeping the underlying records together makes a return easier to review and helps avoid rebuilding the year from memory.

Plan for self-employment taxes

Independent contractors commonly have income-tax and self-employment-tax questions. A practical review can include estimated tax payments, business expenses, and the records needed to understand the full picture of the year.

Business structure has consequences

Sole proprietorships, partnerships, LLCs, and corporations do not all file the same way. If your structure or payroll changed during the year, flag it early so the right return and records are considered.

A contractor who works in their own name may have Schedule C activity within an individual return. A contractor operating through an S-Corporation or partnership has different filing needs. JC Tax Services starts by identifying which return applies, then helps organize the records behind it.
